OR117585 – Sessional Form F Assessor – Social Care Qualified

Work Pattern:  Remote, 10 per week

PAYE Pay Rate: £244.20 per day

Additional: The rate will be £2500 per assessment; paid on completion of assessment

MAIN PURPOSE

To undertake high-quality Form F assessments of prospective foster carers, from allocation through to Fostering Panel. The role involves gathering and analysing evidence, producing detailed assessment reports and making professional recommendations regarding suitability to foster.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete comprehensive Form F (Wales) assessments of prospective foster carers.
• Conduct assessment visits with applicants, household members, adult children and referees.
• Gather and analyse information from interviews, references and statutory checks.
• Maintain accurate, confidential and timely assessment records.
• Liaise regularly with the Fostering Service regarding progress and any concerns.
• Attend supervision and midpoint review meetings.
• Prepare clear, analytical and evidence-based Form F reports.
• Make professional recommendations regarding suitability to foster and proposed approval terms.
• Respond to quality assurance feedback and complete amendments within agreed timescales.
• Attend Fostering Panel and present assessments/respond to Panel questions.
• Immediately escalate safeguarding concerns or significant issues.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Recognised Social Work qualification.
• Registered with Social Care Wales.
• Relevant post-qualifying experience in Children’s Social Care.
• Experience undertaking complex assessments; Form F/fostering assessment experience highly desirable.
• Good knowledge of fostering, safeguarding, trauma, attachment and safer caring.
• Strong analytical, assessment and report-writing skills.
• Excellent professional communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines.
• Flexibility to undertake visits outside standard office hours where required.
• Ability to attend supervision, midpoint reviews and Fostering Panel.
• Enhanced DBS

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS

• Sessional work allocated according to service demand.
• Flexible working arrangements to meet applicants’ availability.
• Assessors must live in Powys or within 10 miles of the Powys border.
• Session fee covers assessment visits, recording, liaison, report preparation, supervision/midpoint review, reasonable QA amendments and Fostering Panel attendance, unless otherwise agreed.
