Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting a leading subsea technology business in the recruitment of a Workshop Technician to join their Ashington-based operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical technician looking to develop their career within a highly specialised engineering environment, with genuine opportunities to mobilise both onshore and offshore as part of global projects. 

The Role

As a Workshop Technician, you will be responsible for the assembly, testing, maintenance and repair of a range of specialist subsea equipment. Working within a busy workshop environment, you will ensure equipment is prepared to the highest standards for customer projects, whilst supporting mobilisation activities and occasional offshore and overseas assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, repair and maintain specialist equipment in line with company procedures and quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections, fault finding and diagnostics on mechanical and hydraulic systems. 
  • Complete maintenance records, test documentation and associated reports accurately. 
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and contribute to a strong safety culture. 
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment. 
  • Support mobilisation and demobilisation activities for customer projects. 
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop. 
  • Travel onshore, offshore and overseas when required to support equipment installation, operation and customer projects.

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • Mechanical fitting, assembly or maintenance experience within an engineering, manufacturing, offshore, oil & gas, defence, automotive or similar environment. 
  • Good knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems. 
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation. 
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills. 
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. 
  • Flexibility to travel and support offshore operations when required.

Desirable experience includes:

  • Hydraulic torqueing.
  • Pneumatic or electrical systems knowledge.
  • Previous offshore experience or certifications.
