Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Buyer to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional with experience in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in sourcing and procuring engineering, facilities and manufacturing spare parts and services, while driving cost-saving initiatives and maintaining strong supplier and stakeholder relationships.

Working closely with maintenance and technical teams, you will ensure continuity of supply, negotiate favourable commercial terms and support operational efficiency across the business.

Key Duties

• Manage purchase requisitions for both ad-hoc (spot buy) and inventory-controlled items, ensuring timely action and delivery.

• Source and procure engineering, facilities and manufacturing equipment spare parts and associated services.

• Raise and manage purchase orders through the company's procurement system.

• Monitor supplier performance and expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery.

• Maintain accurate delivery dates and purchasing records within internal systems.

• Negotiate favourable pricing, lead times and payment terms with suppliers.

• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiations, product standardisation and approved alternative products.

• Track and report procurement savings and performance metrics.

• Resolve supplier delivery issues, including non-conforming goods, returns, credits and replacements.

• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and supplier queries.

• Produce and maintain procurement reports on a weekly basis.

• Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal maintenance and technical teams.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Strong knowledge of engineering, maintenance and factory consumables.

• Good understanding of supply chain and procurement processes.

• Proven ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and achieve cost savings.

• Experience identifying and delivering continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

• Knowledge of inventory control and stock management principles.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Good numerical, analytical and IT skills.
