St Michael's CE Middle School is looking for a Cleaner to join our fantastic team. Could this be you?

Actual Salary £8,123 per annum per annum (Grade 1)

This job is Part Time - Term Time Only for 14 hours per week and 38 weeks per year.

It is offered on a Temporary basis until 31.08.2027.

Approximate start date October 2026.

St Michaels Middle School is looking to recruit a dedicated individual to undertake general cleaning duties within our school. We are looking for someone who takes pride in creating a clean, hygienic and safe environment and who is able to work well as part of our existing team.

You will be required to take responsibility for an allocated area, to carry out cleaning tasks set out in the school’s cleaning schedule. This will be inclusive of the swimming pool area and studio gym set within our school grounds.

There will be a requirement to work with limited supervision, and to take responsibility for unlocking the school grounds.

This role can be split into 2 positions, or the roles can be combined if preferred. The details of hours required for each role are listed below.

Role 1

A total of 4 hours per week.

Hours to be worked Thursday and Friday, 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Role 2

A total of 10 hours per week.

Hours to be worked Monday - Friday, 7am - 9am

Both roles can be combined to offer a total of 14 hours per week.

Key responsibilities:

• To carry out cleaning tasks set out in the school's cleaning schedule.
• To use all cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and proper manner and in accordance with any

instructions and specifications provided.

• To report the breakdown of any cleaning equipment or any perceived hazards in the workplace to the

Headteacher/ Site Manager (or other nominated supervisor).

• To observe health and safety and security requirements.
• To complete any appropriate records or documentation required by the Headteacher/ Site Manager.
• To maintain good working relationships with other school staff and to cooperate with reasonable

changes to daily work routines to assist the smooth operation of the school.

• To ensure that work undertaken complies with stated requirements and undertake appropriate

training, as required.

• Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in accordance with the Trust’s

safeguarding and child protection policy.

Essential knowledge and skills:

• Experience of following processes and procedures

• To be able to understand and communicate clearly with members of the cleaning team and throughout the school.

• Fluency in English - to be able to take cleaning instruction and communicate across the school.

It would be desirable if you have experience of a cleaning based role and experience of working within a school environment.
