HV Cable Designer

Our client is seeking a skilled HV Cable Designer to support the delivery of renewable energy infrastructure projects. This permanent role will involve the design and development of high-voltage and extra-high-voltage cable systems, ensuring technically robust, compliant and practical solutions from feasibility through to installation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertaking HV and EHV cable design activities in line with TP141 requirements and applicable industry standards
• Carrying out cable sizing, thermal rating and ampacity calculations
• Completing bonding, earthing and induced voltage studies
• Assessing cable route feasibility, trench designs and installation methods
• Using specialist cable design software, including CYMCAP and ELEK
• Preparing detailed technical reports, design documentation and engineering deliverables
• Producing accurate cable design drawings using AutoCAD
• Collaborating with engineering and project teams to support the successful delivery of renewable energy projects

Job Requirements:

• Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
• Experience in HV and EHV cable design within the energy, power or renewables sector
• Strong technical capability in cable sizing, thermal rating and ampacity calculations
• Knowledge of bonding, earthing and induced voltage studies
• Understanding of cable routing, trench design and installation methodologies
• Proficiency with CYMCAP, ELEK or comparable specialist cable design software
• Experience producing high-quality technical reports and design deliverables to relevant specifications and standards
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and strong attention to detail
