About the role

Data Analyst Salary: £40,000-£47,000 + £3,300 London allowance Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week on-site Industry: Public Sector - International Education We are recruiting a Data Analyst to join the digital product function of a large international organisation undergoing significant technology and product transformation. The role will support a portfolio of digital services used by customers internationally, providing analysis and actionable insight to improve product performance, customer experience and commercial outcomes. This is a hands-on analytical position rather than a leadership role. The successful candidate will combine strong SQL and Power BI capability with commercial awareness, stakeholder engagement and, importantly, the ability to take ownership of their work. You will be expected to investigate problems independently, determine the appropriate analytical approach and explain not only what the data shows, but why it matters and what the organisation should consider doing as a result. Key Responsibilities . Develop and maintain SQL queries and analytical datasets . Build, maintain and improve Power BI dashboards and reporting . Analyse product performance, customer behaviour and commercial outcomes . Analyse customer journeys, acquisition, engagement and retention . Evaluate the performance of digital products, services and new features . Analyse marketing activity and digital funnel performance . Support analysis of pricing initiatives and commercial performance . Develop and track KPIs for digital products and services . Translate business questions into clear analytical approaches . Work with stakeholders to define meaningful measures and reporting requirements . Identify trends, patterns, risks and opportunities within complex datasets . Produce clear, actionable recommendations from analysis . Present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders . Help stakeholders understand the implications of data rather than simply reporting metrics . Support benchmarking and experimentation . Contribute to the evaluation of product releases and initiatives . Support improvements in data governance, quality assurance and reporting standards . Identify opportunities for reporting automation and process improvement . Work collaboratively across product, marketing, sales, operations and data teams . Take ownership of analytical activity from initial requirement through to recommendation Essential Skills and Experience . Strong commercial experience within Data Analysis, BI Analysis or Product Analytics . Typically around five years' relevant experience, although slightly less may be considered where technical and commercial capability is particularly strong . Strong SQL/MySQL skills . Experience writing and optimising SQL queries . Strong Power BI experience . Experience developing and maintaining dashboards and reporting . Proven ability to translate data into clear and actionable commercial or product insight . Experience developing and tracking KPIs for digital products or services . Experience analysing customer journeys and digital funnel performance . Strong analytical and problem-solving skills . Experience working with cross-functional teams . Ability to translate business requirements into measurable metrics . Strong stakeholder communication skills . Ability to explain complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences . Experience with GA4 or similar digital analytics tools . Ability to work independently and take ownership of analytical work . Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment Desirable Experience . Python . Exposure to data engineering . Experience within digital learning, EdTech, assessment or similar digital products . Experience within subscription-based or SaaS environments . Looker, Tableau or similar visualisation tools . Experience with A/B testing or experimentation platforms . Experience within global or multicultural organisations . Understanding of Agile product development . Experience contributing to data governance or data quality initiatives . Experience with CRM or marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot . Understanding of AI-supported analytics and automated insight generation Candidate Profile The strongest candidates will combine technical analytical capability with autonomy and commercial awareness. This role is not intended for someone who requires constant direction or whose default approach is to escalate analytical decisions to a manager. You should be comfortable understanding a business problem, determining what analysis is required, working through the data and taking responsibility for the resulting insight. Previous experience within education is not essential. Candidates from technology, digital products, SaaS, commercial organisations, the public sector and other data-rich environments could all be relevant. The opportunity provides significant ownership and the chance to work on digital products with international reach while contributing to a broader programme of technology modernisation and greater use of AI. Applicants must already have unrestricted right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for this opportunity. *Rates depend on experience and client requirements
