Mechanical Inspector (Nights)

Morson is partnering with one of the UK’s leading Defence Manufacturers to recruit a Mechanical Inspector to join the team at our Bolton site.

• 12-Month Contract
• 37 Hours per Week
• Salary: £21.63 rising to £22.63 PAYE (£29.02 rising to £30.38 Umbrella) plus Night Shift Allowance – 33%

Key Responsibilities

• Certify products in accordance with established product certification procedures.
• Inspect assemblies to ensure correct construction and outstanding workmanship.
• Assess the finish of all components to identify defects such as poor finishing, paint imperfections, or surface damage.
• Detect and report any physical damage throughout the manufacturing process.
• Conduct intermediate inspections for non-certification checks.
• Supervise and support product certification operators effectively.
• Accurately verify and complete all documentation related to the manufacturing data pack.
• Segregate defective items from conforming products to maintain quality standards.
• Compile and maintain detailed defect reports and relevant records.
• Prepare inspection reports, quality control documentation, and history sheets as required.
• Handle and maintain specialised inspection equipment with care and precision.
• Ensure continuous product certification and approval through regular audits.
• Comply fully with all manufacturing procedures to guarantee adherence to standards.
• Meet inspection deadlines while maintaining an efficient workflow.
• Utilise a versatile skill set across diverse tasks to support production requirements.
• Maintain the highest standards of workmanship and product quality.
• Promote a safe, organised, and accessible working environment.
• Contribute proactively to continuous process improvement initiatives.

Skills and Experience Required

• Approved Apprenticeship, Apprenticeship Framework, or Modern Apprenticeship.
• Vocational G or H Units with Further Education; City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3.
• Vocational TR23 Units with Further Education; ONC or City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3.
• Vocational NVQ Level 3 with Further Education; BTEC ONC/HNC.
• Proven experience as a skilled operative within a manufacturing environment.
• IPC 610 certification or relevant training is desirable.
