• Contract: Full-Time Locum Assignment

• Working Pattern: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days in office/site visits per week; 5 days on-site during duty week)

Are you an enthusiastic, highly motivated Senior Social Worker looking for an Advanced Practitioner role where you can drive quality assessments and short-term Child in Need (CIN) interventions?

Barnsley Council is recruiting an Advanced Practitioner to join one of their four Assessment Teams based at Wombwell Police Station. Offering £37.00 per hour, this role focuses on delivering timely, quality assessments that balance need and risk while ensuring families receive consistency of care through short-term CIN planning.

• Short-Term CIN Planning: Complete timely, high-quality assessments and manage short-term CIN plans directly to maintain consistency of worker for children and families.

• Reflective Supervision & Mentoring: Deliver high-quality reflective supervision, supporting and mentoring students, Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs), and colleagues across the team.

• Paced Decision-Making: Work at pace to analyse risk and ensure timely, high-level decision-making within a performance management framework that drives positive outcomes.

• Multi-Agency Integration: Work closely alongside police colleagues and partner agencies in a co-located environment to safeguard vulnerable children.

• Qualifications & SWE: Recognised Social Work qualification with active Social Work England (SWE) registration.

• Statutory Experience: Significant post-qualifying experience in statutory Children's Social Work (Assessment, Duty, Safeguarding, or CIN).

• Supervision Track Record: Proven experience in delivering reflective supervision and mentoring students/NQSWs.

• Legislative Expertise: Comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of children's legislation, safeguarding policies, and statutory procedures.

• Competitive Rate: Earn £37.00 per hour.
