Senior/Mechanical Engineer

Our client is seeking a Chartered Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its creative and collaborative Building Engineering Team in London on a permanent basis. This is an opportunity to contribute to technically inspiring projects across the rail, residential, commercial and social infrastructure sectors, from feasibility through to practical completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems across complex UK and international projects
• Developing mechanical system strategies and contributing to design decisions from project inception to completion
• Directing comfort and thermal analysis for buildings and occupied spaces
• Supervising the spatial and technical coordination of building services and their integration into wider designs
• Managing the production of models, drawings, reports and specifications to agreed budgets and deadlines
• Supervising and coordinating the work of colleagues, external disciplines and in-house specialists
• Supporting sustainable building design, including energy efficiency, carbon reduction and decarbonisation strategies
• Providing guidance, training and constructive feedback to support the development of others

Job Requirements:

• Chartered Engineer status with relevant experience in mechanical or building services engineering
• Strong mechanical engineering design and technical delivery skills
• Experience working collaboratively within multi-professional design teams
• Broad knowledge of mechanical systems, installations and project sectors, including rail or major infrastructure environments
• Experience in using and leading the application of energy modelling software, ideally IES
• Knowledge of sustainable building design, energy performance, carbon reduction and retrofit solutions
• Creative and inquisitive approach, with an interest in integrating requirements beyond the mechanical engineering discipline
• Strong commercial awareness, including resource planning and financial management
• Interest in developing and integrating digital tools to improve engineering workflows
• Excellent communication, coordination, leadership and problem-solving skills
