Job Title General Foreman Summary We’re recruiting a skilled General Foreman to join a major £13m highways improvement project along the A4 in Bristol, delivered in partnership with Bristol City Council. Covering a seven-mile section between Avonmouth and Hotwells, this technically challenging project involves complex junction improvements, drainage upgrades, and carriageway resurfacing. Salary £51,000 – £55,000 per annum Location and Working Pattern Bristol – along the A4 corridor (Avonmouth to Hotwells) Full-time, site-based role Client Overview Our client is a leading Tier 1 infrastructure contractor with extensive experience delivering major civil engineering and highways projects across the UK. ResponsibilitiesLead site operations across assigned sections of the project, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.Coordinate subcontractors, plant, materials, and labour to meet programme and cost targets.Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with HSE legislation and site procedures.Implement short-term construction programmes aligned to the master plan.Drive performance, productivity and progress reporting against key milestones.Conduct inspections to maintain strict quality standards.Proactively identify risks, challenges and opportunities for improvement.Support engineers in resolving technical issues and delivering value engineering solutions.Must-have RequirementsProven experience in civil engineering or major highways projects, ideally with a Tier 1 contractor.Demonstrated ability to manage works in traffic-intensive urban environments.Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards.Excellent team leadership and communication skills.Ability to coordinate multiple trades and manage daily site logistics.Nice-to-have SkillsSMSTS or equivalent site management qualification.Experience in drainage, road resurfacing or junction upgrades.Familiarity with public-sector infrastructure projects.BenefitsCar or car allowance at £500026 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, rising to 29 days with service.
