Structural Engineer - Nuclear Pipe Supports

Morson Edge is seeking a Structural Engineer to analyze and document pipe support designs for a nuclear generating station. The supports generally include steel framing, bolted or welded connections, and attachments to a steel-plated superstructure.

Responsibilities

• Perform seismic analysis of existing pipe support designs using GT STRUDL.
• Assess supports in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III, Subsection NF, and applicable Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) requirements.
• Evaluate steel members, connections, attachments, and standard vendor components.
• Document component capacities and demand-to-capacity comparisons.
• Use supplied support drawings, pipe reaction loads, live loads, design temperatures, and in-structure response spectra in the analysis.
• Account for the effects of piping and superstructure temperatures on material properties.
• Prepare clear engineering calculations and supporting documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• Experience with structural analysis and steel design, including bolted and welded connections.
• Proficiency with GT STRUDL.
• Experience with seismic analysis and ASME BPVC Section III, Subsection NF.
• Familiarity with CISC steel section properties and nuclear generating station projects is preferred.
