Direct Payment Worker/Personal Assistant

Lady in her 80s severely frail with heart failure, and uses a wheelchair, is aware when she needs to use the commode. Lady can stand with assistance to transfer to a commode, but is unsteady on her feet. She is completely blind (no vision whatsoever). Lady loves reading (listening to talking books) and folk music.

Would require companionship for 1 day (8 hours) once a fortnight, and help with personal care (specifically using the commode), and preparing lunch.

The person must be reliable. They will need to clearly say what they are doing when supporting, as lady has no vision whatsoever. She will need help with standing to transfer to a commode, as she is very unsteady on her feet following a fall in February of this year. The person will need to be able to communicate in a clear voice, as she is a little hard of hearing, but has no hearing aids. They will need to make lunch for her as well, and may have to let in her usual daily carer from the agency who attend sometime in the morning to help her get washed and dressed.

Someone who is friendly, with a good sense of humour likes to talk about random things, and who is a good listener.

Due to the intimate nature of the personal care required, applications are restricted to females only. This is permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
