ABOUT THE CLIENT

We’re working with an established technology business delivering infrastructure solutions to customers across the UK.

They’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer who wants more than sitting behind the same desk every day. You’ll be getting hands-on with customer projects, seeing different environments and taking responsibility for delivering infrastructure solutions from design and scoping through to implementation.

A bit of honesty upfront – this role does involve UK travel and staying away from home when projects require it. If you’re looking for a predominantly home-based position, this won’t be the right move. If you enjoy being out on-site, meeting customers and actually getting your hands on the technology, there’s plenty of variety here.

THE PROJECT ENGINEER ROLE

You’ll deliver IT infrastructure projects both remotely and on customer sites across the UK.

That means installing and configuring server, storage, networking, wireless and security solutions, alongside carrying out technical audits, site surveys and consultancy work.

You’ll also contribute to technical pre-sales, produce design documentation and act as a senior technical escalation point when required.

It’s a role for somebody who enjoys doing – understanding the requirement, working out the solution and then getting on-site to deliver it.

And yes, there will be overnight stays. We’d rather make that crystal clear from day one. In return, you’re getting a role with considerably more variety than working on the same infrastructure every day.

PROJECT ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Windows Server, Hyper-V andamp; SCCM

• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP andamp; Group Policy

• Server andamp; storage infrastructure

• LAN/WLAN networking

• Backup andamp; recovery within virtualised environments

• RADIUS / network authentication

• Firewalls, web filtering andamp; security devices

• Site surveys, audits andamp; technical documentation

• Strong infrastructure troubleshooting skills

• Confident customer-facing communication

• Able to travel throughout the UK and stay away when required

• Full UK driving licence

Experience with HPE Server andamp; Storage, Aruba switching/wireless, Aruba Central, Veeam, Smoothwall or SD-WAN would be a real advantage, as would previous MSP or technical pre-sales experience.
