VP, Legal - Supplemental Insurance
Location: Remote
A growing insurance company is looking for a hands-on Vice President, Legal to lead legal support for its supplemental insurance business, with a focus on Critical Illness, Short-Term Disability, and Accident products.
This is a high-impact role for an attorney who wants to work closely with Product, Operations, Sales, and senior leadership to develop, launch, and scale insurance solutions in a fast-moving environment.
What You'll Do


Advise on supplemental insurance product development, design, structure, and launch.


Guide Product teams on applicable insurance laws and regulations.


Review policy forms, endorsements, applications, disclosures, notices, and marketing materials.


Support state product filings and regulatory approvals.


Advise on benefits, exclusions, limitations, pricing structures, and operational processes.


Provide ongoing legal support for enrollment, billing, claims, eligibility, and policy administration.


Draft and negotiate distribution and vendor agreements.


Review enrollment, claims, technology, medical, and compliance processes.


Advise on complaints, disputes, escalated claims, regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations.


Manage outside counsel when specialized expertise is needed.


What We're Looking For


J.D. from an accredited law school.


Admission to at least one U.S. state bar.


7+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally with an insurance company.


Strong knowledge of insurance laws and regulations, particularly supplemental benefits.


Experience with product development, policy forms, regulatory filings, or implementation.


Experience advising on claims and policy administration.


Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.


Comfortable operating independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
