Teaching Assistant Level 2

The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Level 2 to join our dedicated team at Lord Derby Academy.

The core purpose of the role will be to work under the instruction of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) & relevant staff to:

1. undertake work/care/support programmes for pupils, especially those with Special Educational Needs/Disabilities (SEND)
2. enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in the management of pupils in the classroom
3. assist in the support and integration of children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities (SEND) within a mainstream school

Key responsibilities:

1. Supervise and provide support for pupils, including those with SEND (if applicable), ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
2. Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes
3. Use strategies, in lesson with the teacher/lead staff, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
4. Assist with the planning of learning activities
5. Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed
6. Undertake programmes linked to local and national learning strategies, e.g. literacy, numeracy, Key Stage 3, and recording achievement and progress and feeding back to the teacher
7. Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
