About the role
This full-time position offers a basic salary of £43,000, uncapped commission and a car allowance, working Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm. Following successful completion of the probationary period, hybrid working will be available, with three days in the office and two days working from home.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with one to two years’ experience in B2B sales, account management, lead generation or business development who is ready to take the next step into a more commercially focused role.
You do not need to arrive with an established network or extensive technical knowledge. The business is looking for someone with the confidence to start conversations, the curiosity to understand customer needs and the motivation to develop into a successful technical sales professional.
You will receive support from an experienced internal team while learning the company’s products, customers and markets. As your knowledge develops, you will take increasing ownership of the complete new-business journey, from identifying prospects and arranging initial conversations through to presenting solutions, developing proposals and winning new accounts.
What you will be doing
- Researching prospective customers and identifying new sales opportunities.
- Making initial contact with businesses through telephone calls, email, LinkedIn, networking and referrals.
- Speaking with Engineering, Technical, Procurement and Commercial contacts to understand their requirements.
- Building relationships with prospective customers over time.
- Arranging and attending customer meetings alongside experienced colleagues where appropriate.
- Learning how to position technical products and solutions against customer needs.
- Supporting the preparation of proposals, presentations and commercial information.
- Following up enquiries and maintaining momentum throughout the sales process.
- Developing opportunities from initial contact through to negotiation and close.
- Keeping CRM records, activity notes and pipeline information accurate and current.
- Monitoring target markets and identifying potential sectors for growth.
- Working closely with internal teams to provide a positive customer experience.
- Contributing towards agreed activity, pipeline and new-business targets.
- Around one to two years’ experience within B2B sales, business development, account management, lead generation or a commercially focused customer role.
- Evidence of proactively approaching prospective customers or developing new opportunities.
- Confidence speaking with new contacts by telephone, email and in person.
- A genuine interest in technical products, Engineering or Manufacturing.
- The curiosity to ask effective questions and understand how a customer operates.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, resilient and self-motivated approach.
- Good organisation and the ability to manage follow-ups and competing priorities.
- Some experience using a CRM system or maintaining accurate customer records.
- A willingness to learn from experienced colleagues and develop commercially.
- A full UK driving licence.
What is on offer
- £43,000 basic salary.
- Uncapped commission.
- Car allowance.
- Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.
- Hybrid working after probation, with three days in the office and two days working from home.
- Structured support while learning the products and technical market.
- Access to an experienced commercial and internal team.
- The opportunity to develop from lead generation into full-cycle business development.
- Autonomy and responsibility as your experience grows.
- A long-term career opportunity within an established and successful organisation.
