About the role
LADO Business Support Assistant
At Cheshire East we’re offering an opportunity to provide business support to the LADO Officer who, in turn, oversees safeguarding allegations made against professionals and suitability to work with children, ensuring that they are dealt with effectively within the multi agency partnership and within statutory timescales.
We have an exciting opportunity for a full time permanent position for a LADO Business Support Assistant based in Macclesfield. The role requires the management, and business monitoring of casework including the development of an outcomes based data set. The job holder must have an understanding of working with vulnerable child, child protection and will be managing confidential information and sharing it appropriately with a wide range of organisations in order to protect children from unsuitable professionals working with children.

About the role:
We're looking for a dedicated individual to provide high-quality business and administrative support to our Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) service. You'll play an important role in helping to ensure safeguarding concerns are managed effectively, coordinating multi-agency activity, maintaining accurate records, and supporting professionals across the children's workforce. This is a rewarding opportunity to work collaboratively with a wide range of partners and contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
What You'll Be Doing
- Acting as a first point of contact for safeguarding allegation enquiries, providing advice and support to professionals and employers.
- Supporting the LADO service by processing referrals, maintaining case records and coordinating key actions.
- Organising and supporting multi-agency meetings, ensuring they are arranged within required timescales.
- Monitoring case progress, tracking actions and maintaining accurate records and data.
- Producing clear and timely minutes, reports and correspondence to support effective decision-making.
- Preparing performance information and reports to support service improvement and statutory reporting requirements.
- Building strong relationships with partner agencies to support effective communication and information sharing.
- Assisting with audit and quality assurance activities to promote good safeguarding practice.
- Providing professional administrative support and responding sensitively to enquiries while maintaining confidentiality.
- Contributing to positive outcomes for children and young people through effective coordination and support of safeguarding processes.
The successful candidate may be required to travel to and work from multiple locations within Cheshire East. (Macclesfield and Delamere House)

About you:
We're looking for someone who is highly organised, professional and confident working in a fast-paced environment. You'll have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
The successful candidate will bring:
- An NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant field.
- Previous experience working in an office environment.
- Experience in an administrative role, ideally within Children's Services or a safeguarding-related setting.
- Experience of taking accurate minutes at complex meetings involving multiple stakeholders.
- Advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications, Excel spreadsheets, and the development and maintenance of databases.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with professionals across a range of organisations.
- The ability to use persuasion and influencing skills to coordinate activity and achieve positive outcomes.
- Confidence in creating and presenting written reports, data and numerical information in a variety of formats.
- The ability to handle sensitive child protection information with discretion, professionalism and confidentiality.
- Experience of working under pressure, managing competing priorities and meeting strict deadlines.
- A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to respond positively to changing demands and service needs.
