Contract Length: 6 Months
Location: National. Candidates will be expected to attend their nearest office 2 days per week.

We are seeking an experienced Interaction Designer to support a major public sector digital programme. This role will focus on creating engaging, accessible and user-centred digital experiences, with a particular emphasis on content-rich and public-facing websites.

Key Responsibilities

• Design intuitive and accessible user journeys, page structures, navigation models and task flows.
• Create designs for content-heavy, campaign-style and public-facing websites.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Product Managers, Delivery Managers, User Researchers, Content Designers, Developers and Accessibility Specialists.
• Translate user research findings and content requirements into practical design solutions.
• Develop prototypes and iterate designs based on user feedback and testing outcomes.
• Contribute to both live service improvements and future platform development initiatives.
• Support the management of design debt and continuous service enhancement.
• Maintain high-quality design documentation and reusable design assets within Figma.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong web design experience, including designing public-facing websites, content-led platforms, campaign sites or recruitment-style websites.
• Experience designing for content management systems such as WordPress, or working closely with content editors and publishing teams.
• Proven experience designing responsive, accessible and highly usable websites across a range of devices and user needs.
• Strong understanding of information architecture, navigation design and user-centred interaction design principles.
• Ability to balance visual design, usability and accessibility requirements, particularly for services that require a distinctive identity outside of standard government design patterns.
• Experience collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary agile teams.
• Advanced Figma skills, including file management, documentation of design decisions and creation of reusable component libraries.
• Experience using user research and content insights to drive design improvements.
• Ability to create, test and refine prototypes through iterative design practices.
• Comfortable working across both strategic design initiatives and day-to-day service improvements.

Desirable

• Experience working on large-scale digital transformation programmes.
• Experience designing services within regulated or highly governed environments.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design best practices.
