Forklift Driver - Stock Checker / Warehouse Operator
Location: Kettering
Pay Rate: £17.14 per hour (£35,650 per annum equivalent)
Contract Type: Agency Contract - Ongoing
Shift: 22:00 - 06:00, Sunday - Thursday

About the Company
Our client is a leading railway infrastructure organisation dedicated to delivering excellence within the rail industry. They are seeking an experienced Forklift Driver / VNA Operator to join their team on an ongoing agency contract.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining accurate inventory levels through stock checking, stock counting and warehouse inventory management, while supporting broader warehouse operations using various forklift equipment, ideally VNA (Very Narrow Aisle) trucks.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Control & Inventory

• Conduct regular stock checks and counts throughout the warehouse.
• Accurately reconcile physical stock with warehouse management system records.
• Investigate and report any stock discrepancies or inventory variances promptly.
• Ensure stock locations are correctly identified and maintained.
• Utilise handheld scanners or mobile devices to record stock movements and inventory data.
• Support cycle counting and other inventory control activities as required.
• Maintain high accuracy when handling and recording stock.

Forklift Operations

• Operate Forklift (VNA) equipment safely to access and retrieve stock from racking systems.
• Move, locate and position materials efficiently and safely within the warehouse.
• Comply with all site procedures and Safe Systems of Work when operating material handling equipment (MHE).
• Ensure stock is stored correctly and warehouse locations remain organised.

Warehouse Operations

• Support picking, put-away, replenishment, packing and other general warehouse activities.
• Handle materials with care to prevent damage.
• Assist with loading, unloading and movement of materials as necessary.
• Maintain accurate records within the warehouse management system.

Housekeeping & Health and Safety

• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Adhere to all company health and safety procedures and warehouse regulations.
• Report damaged stock, equipment faults or safety concerns promptly.
• Work collaboratively with the wider warehouse team to ensure operational efficiency.

Experience & Qualifications

• Previous experience operating VNA equipment is highly desirable.
• Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence/certification is essential.
• Experience in stock checking, stock counting or inventory control is advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy.
• Confidence using handheld scanners and warehouse management systems.
• Good hand-eye-foot coordination when operating material handling equipment.
• Reliable, self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively on a permanent night shift pattern.
