Teacher - Vocational Studies

Keighley College are seeking a Teacher of Vocational Studies to deliver high-quality, practical teaching. You will support learners to develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed for employment, internal progression or apprenticeships across Level 1 Vocational Studies pathways with a primary focus on Uniformed Public Services.

A key part of the role is to support learners of varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs, by adapting teaching methods and providing clear, structured guidance in a safe workshop, classroom or external environment. You will help learners develop essential employability skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and time management.

We welcome applications from candidates with career experience working in Uniformed Public Services, who can share their experience and skills with our learners to help them succeed in their chosen career.

You do not need a teaching qualification but ideally you will have previous experience in supporting learners and/or young people. For the right candidate we will fully support you in gaining your teaching qualification.

What You Will Do

• Ensure that the preparation, marking, assessment and moderation are completed promptly and efficiently within agreed timescales.
• Effectively manage the delivery of vocational units each individual learner, including appropriate support where necessary.
• Continuously demonstrate a commitment towards further professional development including the application of new technologies to improve the effectiveness of learning management.
• Ensure that EHCPs are updated and reviewed regularly

• We are seeking a motivated, practical, and supportive practitioner who is passionate about helping learners succeed in Vocational Studies, Particularly the Uniformed Public Services based pathway.
• The successful candidate will be confident working with a wide range of abilities and committed to developing learners’ skills, independence, and employability.
• You will be able to deliver engaging, hands-on learning experiences linked to the Public Services sector such as Police, Fire, Search and recuse and many others, helping students build both practical skills and workplace behaviours.
• You will be patient, adaptable, and able to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where learners feel confident to develop and practise new skills.
• You will have strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners, acting as a role model and supporting them to develop confidence, resilience, and a strong work ethic.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and support staff, you will track progress, provide guidance, and help learners achieve their qualifications and progress into further training, apprenticeships, or employment.
