Composite Boatbuilder

An opportunity has arisen for a Boatbuilder to join our client on a contract basis, supporting the refit and maintenance of specialist rescue vessels for a world-renowned maritime lifesaving organisation.

Working within a modern composite manufacturing facility, you will carry out a range of boatbuilding and fit-out activities, including trimming, bonding, gluing, component installation, and assembly work on lifeboats undergoing refit.

The ideal candidate will have previous boatbuilding or composite manufacturing experience and be confident working from engineering drawings and standardised work instructions. Applicants from related industries, such as aerospace or composites, will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Trim and prepare components for installation.
• Install, fit, and bond furniture and larger composite components.
• Carry out gluing and bonding activities to specification.
• Assist with the assembly and installation of marine structures and equipment.
• Undertake laminating work where required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and housekeeping.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet production and project deadlines.

Requirements

• Previous experience in boatbuilding, composite fitting, marine manufacturing, or a similar environment.
• Experience of trimming, bonding, gluing, and component installation.
• Ability to work with large composite structures and assemblies.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Good practical skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to safe working practices and quality workmanship.

Contract Details

• Initial 3 month contract
• Hours: 42 hours per week
• Start Time: 7:00am or 7:30am
• PAYE: £17.50 per hour plus £2.11 per hour holiday pay
• Umbrella: £23.44 per hour
• Start Date: As soon as possible following completion of onboarding paperwork
