Teaching Assistant

Location: Sutton Coldfield

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a supportive Teaching Assistant to start immediately. This Teaching Assistant position will involve working with children aged 4 to 11 who have a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), communication and interaction needs, and associated social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. Many pupils require additional support to develop their independence, communication skills, confidence, and ability to access learning successfully.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils with autism, learning difficulties, and communication needs.
• Help implement individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning programmes.
• Adapt classroom resources and activities to meet a range of learning styles and abilities.
• Use communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, visual supports, and structured learning approaches to support pupil engagement.
• Support pupils in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and participation across both academic and practical learning activities.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, families, and other professionals to ensure pupils achieve the best possible outcomes.
