Newton Aycliffe, County Durham Prospero Teaching Functional Skills Tutor - English & Maths - Newton Aycliffe Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with local councils, SEND services, and education providers across Newton Aycliffe and the wider Tyne and Wear area to deliver high-quality, tailored one-to-one and small group Functional Skills support. We are currently looking for experienced Functional Skills Tutors to teach English and Maths at Entry Level 3, Level 1, and Level 2. About the Role We're seeking dedicated and passionate Functional Skills Tutors based in Newton Aycliffe to work with young people who are currently not in full-time education. Tutoring sessions are delivered face-to-face, typically within community venues, alternative provision settings, or in the learner's home environment. Each programme is bespoke to meet the learner's specific needs, helping them build confidence and achieve their Functional Skills English and Maths qualifications. Position Details: Pay rate up to £30 per hour depending on qualification and/or experience Up to 15 hours per week per student Start date: October 2026 Location: Newton Aycliffe Duration: ongoing Access to our Resource Hub, which includes learning materials Access to CPD accredited courses and training Your role with us: Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition in Functional Skills Maths and/or English Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps. Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families. Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning. Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.
