Job description

Former DSIT recruitment campaigns are continuing as usual, but candidates should be aware that following the Government’s announcement on the changes to some civil service departments, roles will be subject to the machinery of government moves and will ultimately be in one of the new departments. We will provide more information if you are selected for a role. This work remains of high importance to the civil service, and we thank you for your continued interest.

As a Senior Performance Analyst on the Digital Identity programme, you will provide analytical leadership across multiple aspects of the One Login product. You will have the opportunity to help shape what we track and how we track it, working alongside other analysts in the team.

You will work closely with product teams to develop meaningful performance measures, improve data quality and generate actionable insights that support evidence-based decision making. As a senior practitioner you will ensure good practice and work with lead practitioners to improve capability.

As a Senior Performance Analyst, your responsibilities include:

  • leading the development and implementation of key performance indicators (KPIs) and success measures across one or more products within One Login, ensuring effective measurement and high-quality performance data
  • analysing and interpreting data from multiple sources to generate actionable insights that inform product development, service improvement and strategic decision making
  • working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to identify what should be measured, develop hypotheses and evaluate the impact of product and service changes
  • influencing stakeholders to adopt evidence-based approaches and use data effectively in decision making, prioritisation and roadmap development
  • leading the production of high-quality analysis and data storytelling, communicating complex findings and recommendations to stakeholders with varying levels of analytical expertise, including senior leaders
  • contributing to the development of performance analysis capability through line management, coaching, mentoring and sharing good practice amongst the team

Person specification

We’re interested in people who have:

  • strong experience developing performance frameworks, KPIs and success measures, and using data to evaluate and improve digital products, services or user outcomes
  • strong experience of working with large and complex datasets using tools such as SQL, BigQuery, Google Analytics or similar technologies, and collaborating with technical teams to ensure robust data collection and measurement
  • experience formulating questions, developing hypotheses, interpreting and validating data, and combining evidence from multiple sources to generate actionable insights to inform product, delivery or strategic decisions
  • experience translating complex analytical findings into clear, compelling recommendations for audiences with varying levels of analytical expertise, including senior leaders
  • strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working effectively across multidisciplinary teams and building trusted relationships with product, delivery, user-centred design and technology colleagues
  • experience leading, coaching or developing performance analysts, promoting analytical best practice and contributing to a collaborative and inclusive analytical community

Benefits

There are many benefits of working at GDS, including:

  • flexible hybrid working with flexi-time and the option to work part-time or condensed hours
  • a Civil Service Pension with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
  • 25 days of annual leave, increasing by a day each year up to a maximum of 30 days
  • an extra day off for the King’s birthday
  • an in-year bonus scheme to recognise high performance
  • career progression and coaching, including a training budget for personal development
  • a focus on wellbeing with access to an employee assistance programme
  • job satisfaction from making government services easier to use and more inclusive for people across the UK
  • advances on pay, including for travel season tickets
  • death in service benefits
  • cycle to work scheme and facilities
  • access to an employee discounts scheme
  • 10 learning days per year
  • volunteering opportunities (5 special leave days per year)
  • access to a suite of learning activities through Civil Service learning

Any move to Government Digital Service from another employer will mean you can no longer access childcare vouchers. This includes moves between government departments. You may however be eligible for other government schemes, including Tax Free Childcare. Determine your eligibility at https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

Office attendance
The Department operates a discretionary hybrid working policy, which provides for a combination of working hours from your place of work and from your home in the UK. The current expectation for staff is to attend the office or non-home based location for 40-60% of the time over the accounting period.
DSIT does not normally offer full home working (i.e. working at home); but we do offer a variety of flexible working options (including occasionally working from home).
