Senior Architect

Morson Edge are working with a leading multidisciplinary consultancy to recruit a Senior Architect on a 6-month contract to support the delivery of a major critical national infrastructure project from their Surrey office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Architect to join the project’s design function, contributing to the delivery of complex buildings and services while taking responsibility for defined work packages and/or small project teams.

The role would suit a Senior Architect with strong technical and design experience, ideally gained within a highly regulated environment, with nuclear or defence experience particularly relevant.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Architect, you will contribute to the delivery of architectural and building services design across the project.

You will provide technical leadership within your area of expertise, developing practical and value-driven solutions while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and compliance.

You will also lead small project teams and/or defined work packages, supervising other architectural professionals and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify and resolve design issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead small project teams and/or defined architectural work packages.
• Deliver projects across all RIBA stages.
• Develop high-quality architectural, design and technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership within your area of expertise.
• Produce and coordinate architectural design and technical information.
• Use Revit and other relevant architectural software to develop project information.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and specialist consultants.
• Ensure design solutions meet client requirements and relevant UK planning, building and construction regulations.
• Identify and resolve technical and design issues throughout project delivery.
• Supervise and support other architectural staff.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety and quality throughout technical delivery.
• Contribute to design reviews and project coordination.
• Consider sustainability, innovation and modern methods of construction within design solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience

• ARB/RIBA qualified Architect.
• Minimum 5 years professional experience.
• Proven ability to deliver projects across all RIBA stages.
• Strong design, technical and detailing skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of UK planning, building and construction regulations.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator or equivalent architectural software.
• Experience developing complex architectural solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead work packages and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience working within a QA-assured design environment.
• Ability to gain SC Clearance

Desirable Experience

• Experience within a highly regulated industry.
• Architectural design experience within the nuclear or defence sectors.
• Understanding of security and CTM design.
• At least 2 years experience supervising other architectural staff.
• Experience leading project teams or technical work packages.
• Enthusiasm for sustainable design, innovation and modern methods of construction.

What’s on Offer

• £35-£40 per hour.
• 6-month contract, Inside IR35 (Umbrella).
