Workshop Manager

Bedford, Bedfordshire Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD Location: Bedford Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 DOE Our client is looking for a hands-on Workshop Manager to join their team in Bedford. This is a varied role covering workshop management, engineering, maintenance, hydraulics, field engineers, stock and procurement. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and be comfortable getting hands-on when required. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day workshop and engineering operations Provide hands-on technical and engineering support Lead and support field/mobile engineers Oversee maintenance, fault-finding and repairs Utilise strong hydraulics knowledge Manage stock, parts, tools and equipment Oversee procurement and suppliers Support fleet and vehicle management Ensure Health & Safety and compliance standards Oversee RAMS, LOLER, PUWER and inspections Support engineer training and development Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime Requirements Strong mechanical engineering background Strong practical hydraulics experience HGV licence Previous workshop, maintenance or engineering management experience Experience managing/supporting field engineers Strong fault-finding and maintenance skills Stock, parts and procurement experience Good understanding of Health & Safety and compliance Knowledge of RAMS, LOLER and PUWER Strong customer service and communication skills Hands-on approach with the ability to get involved technically Salary & Benefits £40,000 - £50,000 basic salary DOE Flexibility for candidates with particularly strong hydraulics experience Varied role covering workshop, engineering and operations Further benefits to be discussed during the recruitment processBennett and Game Recruitment are a multi-disciplined technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the UK with specialist teams covering a range of industries.
