Project Engineer (Sizewell B)

We are recruiting for experienced Electrical Project Engineers to be based at Sizewell B Power Station on a permanent basis.

This is a key role within our project and engineering portfolio, which is delivered across our UK nuclear and power generation sites. You will be supported and mentored by experienced project and engineering management professionals within Jacobs and provided with the training and development opportunities required to grow your technical, project management and leadership capabilities on increasingly complex electrical projects.

You will form part of a large, client-led team at Sizewell B Power Station and will be accountable to the Client Project Manager, Programme Manager and/or Construction Manager. Flexible working between office and home may be possible however, the role will be predominantly site-based due to the nature of the work.

Key Responsibilities

Producing, reviewing and maintaining electrical engineering documentation, including quality plans, technical specifications, calculations and schedules

Managing electrical technical queries in accordance with established processes and procedures

Supporting the selection of electrical contractors, tender reviews and contract placement

Carrying out technical reviews of electrical contractor documentation, drawings and calculations, including CAD Mech models and layouts

Developing and reviewing electrical design solutions and carrying out technical appraisals of project options

Undertaking feasibility studies, site surveys and close liaison with designers, CAD technicians and station electrical engineering teams

Preparing Engineering Change documentation and managing the production of all supporting and affected drawings and documents

Producing and reviewing commissioning and test documentation, and acting as test team leader where appropriate

Supporting the Project Manager and Construction Manager to ensure electrical works are delivered safely, compliantly, on time and to specification

Qualifications & Experience

Typically Chartered Engineer (CEng) or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

SMSTS qualification (or willingness to obtain)

Formal project management qualification and knowledge of modern project management techniques desirable but not essential

Proven experience in identifying, implementing and complying with safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures and relevant legislation

Knowledge and experience of delivering construction projects under CDM regulations

Strong experience in electrical power systems design and installation, including LV/HV distribution, substations, switchgear, protection systems and associated infrastructure

Experience working with CAD Mech (reviewing, coordinating and interrogating electrical models and drawings)

Ideally experience working with National Grid, DNOs or large-scale electrical supply and distribution systems

Strong communication, coordination and organisational skills

Previous experience at power stations or nuclear licensed sites is preferred but not essential candidates must demonstrate a track record of working within highly regulated, safety-critical environments
