Are you a Management Accountant looking for a broad role where you can get closer to operations and have a genuine influence on business performance?

A specialist manufacturing business is looking for a Management Accountant to join its finance team. This is a varied position combining monthly management accounts with budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and operational finance.

You'll work closely with production, operations, purchasing and senior management, giving you the opportunity to understand what's happening behind the numbers and provide financial insight that supports better decisions.

The role could suit a qualified, part-qualified or actively studying accountant with strong management accounting skills who wants greater exposure across a manufacturing business.

What you'll be doing As Management Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments
• Supporting and driving an accurate, timely month-end close
• Analysing actual performance against budgets and forecasts
• Providing clear commentary around variances, trends, risks and opportunities
• Supporting annual budgets, rolling forecasts and scenario planning
• Monitoring CAPEX, fixed assets, depreciation and investment costs
• Supporting weekly cash flow forecasting and explaining key movements
• Completing bank reconciliations and supporting VAT reporting
• Working with operational teams to understand manufacturing costs and performance
• Analysing labour, materials, overheads, stock, WIP, scrap and production variances
• Supporting stock reconciliations, inventory valuation and stocktake reporting
• Developing operational finance reports and KPI information
• Supporting statutory audit requirements
• Helping improve finance systems, reporting and processes

What we're looking for We're keen to speak with Management Accountants who are qualified, part-qualified or actively studying towards an accounting qualification.

You'll need a good understanding of management accounts, month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis, alongside strong Excel and analytical skills.

You'll also be comfortable communicating financial information to non-finance colleagues and working across different areas of a business.

Experience within manufacturing, engineering or another operational environment would be advantageous. Previous exposure to ERP or manufacturing systems would also be useful but isn't essential.
