Warehouse Operative / FLT

We are looking for an experienced Warehouse Operative / Forklift Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will support the safe and efficient movement, storage, and handling of goods within the warehouse, while maintaining high standards of accuracy, housekeeping, and health & safety.

Shift/salary:

• £27,000 per year
• £12.98 per hour
• 40 hours per week
• Monday to Friday, with some Saturday working available as overtime
• 1-hour unpaid lunch break
• Shifts are currently worked on a rotation basis:
• 7:00am–4:00pm
• 9:00am–6:00pm
• 25 days’ holiday, increasing with service to a maximum of 30 days
• Bank holidays
• Company pension

The role:

• Loading and unloading international and domestic vehicles in a safe and timely manner
• Checking and completing relevant documentation
• Receiving deliveries of storage goods into the warehouse
• Checking quantities and condition of goods, recording receipt, and completing paperwork
• Putting away customer goods into the relevant racking space
• Strategically storing merchandise to maximise storage space within the warehouse
• Completing stock and inventory checks on locations as required
• Maintaining good housekeeping standards across the site
• Maintaining cleanliness in all areas, including the warehouse, warehouse office, goods yard, and car parks
• Thoroughly inspecting merchandise for any damages or discrepancies
• Maintaining accurate records of all merchandise received and distributed, in line with company procedures and standards
• Contacting relevant office staff to resolve any shipment or delivery issues
• Using forklifts, including counterbalance and reach trucks, to load, unload, move, stack, and arrange merchandise
• Manual handling of goods
• Carrying out safety checks of handling equipment, roller shutter doors, dock levellers, and other site equipment
• Liaising with visiting drivers and subcontractors, providing operational and health & safety instructions
• Cooperating fully with site health and safety requirements
• Supporting site and facilities maintenance and repairs
• Maintaining awareness of fire safety on site and conducting fire checks

The candidate:

• Demonstrable experience in a warehouse or logistics environment
• Computer literate, including MS Office 365 applications
• Effective team player
• Good timekeeping and organisational skills
• Logical approach to issue resolution
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Adaptable to change and continuous improvement

Requirements:

• Forklift truck licence essential
• Reach truck licence preferred
• First aid qualification or certification preferred
