We are looking for a Technician Demonstrator in Automotive & Engineering to join our team. This is a 35 hours per week, fixed term role until June 2027 offering a salary of £ 30,502 to £33,316 per annum.

Job Purpose/Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare and present structured demonstrations aligned to the lecturers taught practical sessions that underpin specific skills to groups of students and deliver bespoke demonstrations to smaller groups within a curriculum area.
  • Flexibility within the role is essential maximising support and supervision across all curriculum areas within the construction department guiding students on safe practice i.e. stacking materials and using lifting equipment demonstrating the logistics of transporting goods safely with fundamental elements of Health & Safety.
  • Maintain the workshop environment ensuring the area is free from hazards so students, staff and visitors are safe and free from potential hazards. Conduct evaluation reports and update risk assessments monitoring the condition of equipment and providing guidance around safe practice when entering or working within the workshops and store areas.
  • Monitor the condition of hand and power tools and purchase replacements within an allocated budget issued by the Head of Department.
  • Provide hands on support with planned events, parents' evenings, employer engagement events etc. by providing demonstrations to student groups engaging within practical activities exhibiting new skills to visitors, this will include supervision of adult provision evening classes.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum level 2 literacy/English qualification, or willing to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
  • Minimum level 2 numeracy/maths qualification, or willing to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
  • Level 2 or above technical or vocational qualification in Automotive/Engineering or extensive industry/site experience.
  • Be familiar with safety aspects relating to general health and safety e.g. risk assessments.
  • Be familiar with and have experience of the general aspects of Automotive and/or Engineering.
