Ready to lead where it matters most? As a Deputy Manager, you will act as the vital bridge between the care team and the Registered Manager. You will set the tone on shift, coach and supervise staff, and ensure that every child and young person receives safe, nurturing, and high-quality care every single day. What you will be doing day to day

Leading and managing the team

• Manage, motivate, and support a team of Residential Childcare Workers and Senior RCWs, providing visible, positive leadership on shift.
• Deliver regular supervision, contribute to appraisals, and highlight training and development needs across the team.
• Plan and manage rotas, ensuring appropriate levels of staffing that reflect occupancy and the needs of the children in the house.
• Act as a role model for professional standards, warmth, and boundaried practice.

Care and quality of practice

• Ensure care is trauma-informed, therapeutic, and centred on each child's plan, risk assessment, and behaviour support plan.
• Oversee the quality of care planning and keyworking, ensuring children's voices are heard and acted upon.
• Maintain an excellent understanding of the Quality Standards and social care standards, translating them into everyday practice.

Safeguarding and operational management

• Promote a culture of safety, transparency, and accountability across the home.
• Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns, disclosures, and incidents, escalating as required.
• Support the Registered Manager in the efficient operational management of the house, deputising in their absence.
• Support preparation for Ofsted inspections and internal quality assurance audits.
• Work in partnership with local authorities, education, health, families, and external professionals.

Qualifications

Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare held (essential);

What we offer

• An intensive program of induction and professional training.
• A clear pathway towards Registered Manager for the right person.
• Competitive compensation package: £36,000 per year to £42,000 inc inc on-call allowances and sleep ins.
• Location: Berwick Upon Tweed
• Contract Type: Permanent
• Working Hours: Average 40 hours per week on a rolling rota. Shift patterns with sleepovers may be required. Includes evenings, weekends, bank holidays and on-call duties
