Full Time Grounds & Building Cleaning Operative

Like getting stuck in, keeping things in order and seeing the results of a hard day’s work?

ASA Recruitment is looking for Grounds & Building Operatives to support locations across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.

This is a hands on, practical role helping to places like keep schools, care homes, sheltered housing and community facilities clean, safe and well maintained.

Across a typical week you’ll be involved in a mix of janitorial, building, grounds and cleaning duties. No two days need to look exactly the same, and we’re looking for people who take pride in doing a proper job.

What You’ll Be Doing

Carrying out general janitorial and building support duties

Keeping buildings, communal areas and facilities clean and presentable

Cleaning toilets, corridors, classrooms, offices, kitchens and communal areas

Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and sanitising

Emptying bins and dealing with general waste and recycling

Keeping entrances, pathways and surrounding grounds tidy

Moving equipment, furniture and supplies when required

Carrying out routine checks around the building and grounds and Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, damage or hazards

Following COSHH, health & safety and site procedures

Getting stuck into other practical jobs needed to keep the site running properly

What We’re Looking For

Practical, hands-on and reliable

Experienced in janitorial, caretaking, cleaning, facilities, grounds or general site work

Happy taking on a mix of cleaning and practical duties

Someone who takes pride in work

Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

Proactive and willing to get stuck in

Able to spot and report problems and is familiar with basic health & safety and COSHH

PVG registered or willing to obtain one
