We are currently recruiting for an experienced Goods In and Logistics Manager to join a growing and established business based in the Wirral. This is an important operational role, responsible for coordinating goods-in, dispatch and logistics, including company drivers and deliveries to site.
The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and confident managing changing priorities, with the ability to improve processes and bring greater structure and control to the operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day goods-in, dispatch and logistics operation
- Oversee and coordinate two company drivers undertaking site deliveries and collections
- Plan and prioritise deliveries and collections in line with operational requirements
- Coordinate the movement of materials to engineers and customer sites
- Manage returned materials, ensuring they are correctly recorded, identified and allocated
- Check incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery documentation
- Identify and escalate shortages, damaged or incorrect goods and other issues
- Ensure materials are correctly prepared, checked and secured before leaving the factory
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections and material movements
- Lead and support drivers and other logistics team members
- Help improve stock, goods-in, returns and logistics processes
- Maintain a clean, organised and controlled yard and goods-in area
- Reduce unnecessary journeys, failed deliveries and avoidable transport cost
- Liaise with internal departments to manage changing priorities and urgent requirements
What We're Looking For:
- Experience in goods in, logistics, dispatch, transport coordination or a similar role
- You will have previous experience supervising or managing a small team, with the confidence to coordinate drivers and manage day-to-day operational requirements
- Confident coordinating people, deliveries and changing priorities
- Experience using computerised systems and operational software
- Proactive in identifying and resolving problems
- A clear and effective communicator
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Able to introduce and improve processes rather than simply maintain the status quo
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, construction or building products would be advantageous but is not essential
- A full UK driving licence
What’s on offer:
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 4:30pm (early finish Fridays, 3:15pm)
- Salary: Available on request / application
- Holiday allowance: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 28 days after 5 years' service, with the opportunity to earn up to 3 additional days for excellent attendance.
