About the role
Pay: £30.00 – £40.00 per hour
Job description:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced SEND Tutor to provide 1:1 tuition to a high-school-aged learner, delivering a personalised education package tailored around their individual needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified teacher who enjoys working outside of the traditional classroom environment and wants the opportunity to make a genuine difference through individualised teaching.
The Role
As a SEND Tutor, you will work closely with the young person to provide engaging, structured and accessible tuition on a 1:1 basis.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering 1:1 Maths and English tuition at secondary/high school level.
- Planning and adapting lessons around the learner’s individual ability, needs and learning style.
- Supporting the learner to work towards their educational targets and curriculum outcomes.
- Breaking learning down into manageable and achievable steps.
- Building confidence, engagement and a positive relationship with education.
- Monitoring progress and completing appropriate learning and progress records.
- Working collaboratively with parents/carers and other professionals involved in the learner’s education.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- Has previous experience teaching within a school, alternative provision, SEND or tutoring environment.
- Is confident delivering the Maths and English curriculum at secondary level.
- Ideally has previous experience supporting learners with SEND and/or additional needs.
- Can adapt teaching approaches and resources to suit an individual learner.
- Is patient, engaging, reliable and able to build positive relationships with young people.
- Understands that progress can look different for every learner and is passionate about providing truly individualised education.
Why This Role?
This role provides the opportunity to step away from whole-class teaching and focus entirely on the needs of one young person.
You will have the flexibility to adapt your teaching, build on the learner’s interests and strengths, and create an educational approach that helps them feel comfortable, understood and successful in their learning.
If you are a qualified teacher with a passion for SEND and believe that education should be adapted to meet the needs of the individual, we would love to hear from you.
