Stores Assistant – Aircraft Maintenance

Location: RAF Shawbury
Rate: £14.54 per hour PAYE / £19.45 per hour Umbrella
Contract: 6 months initially, with likely extension
Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:30–17:00 (37.5 hours per week)
Interview: One-stage interview

Morson are currently recruiting for a Stores Assistant to support an established aircraft maintenance operation at RAF Shawbury.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous experience in a warehouse, stores, industrial, automotive or aviation environment, although candidates with strong organisational skills and a good attitude who are looking to develop their experience will also be considered.

What does the role look like?

Working within an active aircraft maintenance environment, you will provide essential support to engineering teams by ensuring that parts, tools, materials and consumables are available when required.

You will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of housekeeping, tool accountability and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control within the maintenance bays.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

• Gather, stage and deliver parts, consumables, hardware and tools to engineers working in active maintenance bays.
• Organise project kits and ensure hardware packages are complete and allocated correctly.
• Return specialist tools to the tool crib and ensure they are correctly logged.
• Liaise between the parts stores, tool room and maintenance bays to minimise engineer downtime.
• Maintain clean, organised and safe work areas, including benches, shadow boards and tool carts.
• Carry out regular FOD checks and remove any debris from the working area.
• Dispose of waste, scrap materials and hazardous consumables in line with safety and environmental procedures.
• Clean and maintain support equipment such as ladders, maintenance stands and ground power units.
• Follow all relevant safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Essential Skills

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Good awareness of workplace health and safety.
• High level of awareness around tool accountability and FOD control.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, stores teams and supervisors.
• Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision.
• Physically able to stand, walk, bend and regularly lift items up to 23kg.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within a warehouse, stores, industrial, automotive or aviation environment.
• Experience working within a safety-critical or controlled environment.
• Previous experience handling tools, parts, materials or equipment.
