About the role
Secondary SEND Learning Support Assistant – Temp to Perm
Location: Featherstone / Pontefract area
Pay: £98–£115 per day, dependent on experience
Hours: 8:00am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only | Temp to Perm
PK Education are recruiting Secondary SEND Learning Support Assistants for full-time, temp-to-perm opportunities within a specialist secondary setting in the Featherstone/Pontefract area.
We are looking for confident, resilient and relationship-focused individuals who have experience supporting secondary-aged young people with SEND, particularly SEMH needs and behaviours that can challenge.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for consistency and the opportunity to secure a permanent position rather than short-term supply work.
The role will involve:
• Supporting secondary-aged pupils both within lessons and specialist interventions
• Building strong, positive and professional relationships with young people
• Supporting pupils who may become dysregulated, disengaged or display challenging behaviour
• Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
• Helping pupils re-engage with learning following difficult or challenging moments
• Encouraging resilience, independence and positive engagement
• Working closely with teaching and specialist support staff
• Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and professional boundaries
We would particularly like to hear from candidates with experience in:
• SEND or SEMH schools/provisions
• Secondary school learning support
• Alternative Provision or PRU settings
• Behaviour mentoring or behaviour support
• Youth work or other roles supporting young people with additional needs
You will need to be calm, consistent and able to build trust with young people while maintaining clear boundaries. The ability to respond appropriately to challenging situations without escalating them is particularly important.
These positions are initially temporary with the intention of progressing to permanent employment for successful candidates.
Immediate opportunities available.
Apply today with your CV or contact PK Education for further information.
