HGV Class 1 Driver

HGV Class 1 Driver – Morning or Afternoon Shifts – East Midlands Gateway, Derbyshire

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based at East Midlands Gateway, Derbyshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, consistent Monday to Friday work, and long-term opportunities with the potential to secure a permanent position.

This role would suit applicants who have previously worked as an LGV Class 1 Driver, Category CE Driver or Articulated Lorry Driver.

Rates of Pay:

• £17.08 per hour (06:00 – 18:00)
• £21.35 per hour (18:00 – 06:00)

Shift Pattern:

• Monday to Friday
• AM and PM shifts available
• Start times between 04:00 and 06:00 or 14:00 and 16:00

Day-to-Day Duties:

Your duties as an HGV Class 1 Driver are:

• Safely operating Category C+E vehicles, completing three to five trunk runs per day
• Operating curtain-sider trailers and securing loads correctly, including awkward loads
• Making timely deliveries to various destinations
• Communicating effectively with the transport team
• Adhering to company policies, procedures and safety regulations
• Ensuring full compliance with driving laws and working time directives

Essential Skills:

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

• A valid UK Category CE Licence
• A valid UK CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
• A minimum of six months’ continuous Class 1 driving experience
• No more than six penalty points for minor infringements
• No major endorsement codes
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• A professional and reliable attitude

Training:

• Driving assessment required prior to start
• Three-day paid company induction programme
• Full industry-related training and ongoing support
