Working for a leading UK specialist as the Electrical Design Engineer you will take full ownership of electrical control system designs from initial concept through detailed engineering, manufacturing support, testing, and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical Design & Documentation: Produce and maintain comprehensive design packs using EPLAN Electric P8 and AutoCAD Electrical, including schematics, panel layouts, terminal plans, cable schedules, and BOMs.
  • System Specification: Specify components, size cables and protection devices, and build compliant control system solutions tailored to client and safety specifications.
  • Project & Tender Support: Conduct feasibility assessments, make cost-conscious design decisions, assist with quotations, and resolve technical queries during project delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with workshop, software, and operations teams to guarantee designs are functional, manufacturable, and delivered on schedule.
  • Testing & Validation: Create test sheets and validation procedures to streamline factory testing, commissioning, and final site handover.
  • Hands-on Troubleshooting: Provide practical engineering support to resolve electrical design or assembly issues during build and installation.
  • Standards & Compliance: Ensure all design work meets current machinery, safety, and industry regulatory standards.

Key Requirements & Skills

  • Proven experience designing electrical control systems and control panels for automated equipment or machinery.
  • Proficiency with EPLAN Electric P8 and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong knowledge of component selection, cable sizing, and circuit protection.
  • Experience creating full electrical design packs (schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, cable schedules).
  • Ability to generate commissioning test documentation and compliance procedures.
  • Practical problem-solving skills for workshop and site-level troubleshooting
