Teaching Assistant (TA2)
Required ASAP
Fixed Term (12 months until 31st August 2027)
The successful candidate will work 31 hours per week, Term Time plus 1 week.
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to provide vital 1:1 support for a pupil with ASC. In this rewarding role, you will help create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where the pupil feels understood, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. This is a exceptional opportunity for a practitioner passionate about neurodiversity to make a meaningful, lasting difference in a child’s educational and personal journey.
Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.
Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, candidates who possess the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.
Key Responsibilities
- Targeted Learning Support: Focus primarily on supporting the teaching, learning, and individual requirements of a pupil with ASC.
- Adaptive Interventions: Respond proactively to individual learning needs, ensuring full and equal access to the curriculum.
- Classroom Collaboration: Work closely under the guidance of teaching and senior leadership staff to implement effective classroom management and positive behaviour strategies.
- Inclusive Supervision: Deliver targeted support to individual pupils as well as small groups with diverse Special Educational Needs (SEN) to promote social and academic progress.
About Us
Presfield High School is an oversubscribed specialist provision which caters for students with a primary diagnosis of Autism from age 11 through to 19. All our 129 students have an EHCP which identifies Autism as their primary need. We are advocates of Dr Stephen Shore’s belief that “If you have met one child with autism you have met ONE child with autism”. This underpins all that we do and we are committed to challenging the stereotypical views that are often associated with Autism.
We passionately believe in empowering our students and their families to advocate for their individual needs to support them to make meaningful contributions to society and to gain employment if that is their chosen destination. This is demonstrated in our diverse curriculum that promotes an aspirational academic and social pathway.
We are committed to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children and Young People and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful applicants will be requested to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
