Salary: Circa £90,000, depending on experience
Bonus: 5% annual incentive

About the Organisation

Our organisation is responsible for the design, financing, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance and eventual decommissioning of a major nuclear power plant and its associated infrastructure in Suffolk.

As the project progresses through its construction phase, the principal focus is on delivering the programme safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality.

The organisation is continuing to mature into an independent business, supported by robust governance, commercial and project delivery capabilities. The project is economically regulated under the Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model, similar to other major UK regulated infrastructure projects.

The construction strategy builds on the proven design and supply chain established through another major UK nuclear development, while seeking to innovate in delivery methods to achieve significant improvements in time and cost efficiency. Lessons learned from previous major projects will be central to achieving these ambitions.

The Role
Risk Manager

The Project Controls function acts as a centre of excellence for delivery performance management, providing high-quality information, insight and challenge to support successful project delivery.

As Risk Manager, you will sit within the Project Management Office (PMO) and will support one of the projects delivery programmes.

Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager, you will support the operation, implementation and continuous improvement of risk management processes across the PMO. You will help ensure that risk activities are delivered efficiently, consistently and in accordance with established governance, processes, calendars and deadlines.

The role will involve working closely with project controls, project delivery, finance and other corporate and programme teams to provide forward-looking risk insight and support effective decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

As Risk Manager, you will:

Support the Senior Risk Manager in operating integrated project controls and risk management processes.
Support activities and tasks directed by the Senior Risk Manager and deputise at key delivery programme meetings when required.
Plan and coordinate risk management activities, including Estimate at Completion (EAC) updates, Enterprise Risk Reporting (ERR) preparation and Integrated Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA).
Support the development and maintenance of Cost and Schedule QRAs.
Facilitate risk identification, assessment and mitigation workshops across programme teams.
Support monthly risk reporting, including risk dashboards, forecast-to-complete analysis and variance identification.
Provide insight into delivery risks, emerging trends and opportunities for improvement.
Identify opportunities to improve risk management processes and project controls.
Work collaboratively with project delivery, finance and other business functions to ensure risks are appropriately understood, managed and reported.
Ensure risk management activities are delivered in line with the projects governance framework and agreed reporting cycles.
Provide constructive challenge to support effective risk ownership and mitigation.
Contribute to the continuous improvement and maturity of project risk management practices.
Knowledge & Skills

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to independently plan and facilitate risk workshops.
Good technical risk management capability, including experience delivering Quantitative Risk Assessments across both cost and schedule.
An understanding of integrated project controls and how risk interacts with wider project delivery processes.
The ability to integrate risk management with related business processes, including finance and forecasting.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
The ability to work effectively with a broad range of project, technical, commercial and corporate professionals.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The ability to identify trends, challenge assumptions and translate risk information into meaningful project insight.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate is likely to have:

Experience in project management, project controls or risk management within a major project environment.
Experience delivering or supporting Cost and Schedule QRAs.
Experience working across integrated project controls, project delivery and business support functions.
Relevant risk management, project controls, project management or technical qualifications would be advantageous.
Experience within a client, contractor, consultancy or government environment.
Experience working on major capital-intensive infrastructure or complex corporate programmes.
Experience operating within structured governance and assurance environments.
Experience working with senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary project teams.

Experience within the nuclear, energy, infrastructure, engineering, construction or other capital-intensive sectors would be particularly valuable.
