The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in the East of England with the appointment of a Locum Consultant Haematologist.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified Consultant Haematologist to join an established Haematology service and provide high-quality specialist care to patients across the Trust.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of safe and effective Haematology services throughout the assignment, including participation in a 1 in 5 on-call rota.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level Haematology services across the Trust.

The role will include:

  • Assessment and management of patients with a wide range of Haematological conditions
  • Providing Consultant-level clinical decision-making, diagnosis and treatment
  • Undertaking Haematology clinics, including new and follow-up patients
  • Providing specialist advice and clinical support to colleagues
  • Participating in the 1 in 5 on-call rota
  • Managing urgent and acute Haematology presentations as required
  • Working collaboratively with nursing, medical and wider multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Supporting junior medical staff where required
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
  • Contributing to clinical governance and service improvement activities
  • Ensuring safe, high-quality and patient-centred care

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Haematology, or relevant experience for a locum appointment
  • Previous NHS Consultant-level Haematology experience
  • Broad experience in clinical Haematology
  • Experience managing a wide range of Haematological conditions
  • Ability to participate effectively in a 1 in 5 on-call rota
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience working within an NHS Haematology department
  • Experience across a broad range of Haematology services
  • Experience managing acute Haematology presentations
  • Teaching and supervision experience
  • Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement
