About the role
PAYE Pay Rate: £27.39 per hour
Main Purpose of the Role
To assess and support adults with physical disabilities, sensory impairments and/or learning disabilities, helping them maximize independence, social inclusion and safe care.
The role focuses on identifying suitable equipment, adaptations and manual handling solutions to help people remain safely at home for as long as possible and reduce reliance on care packages.
Typical Day
- Carry out occupational therapy assessments for adults, including people with complex needs.
- Assess for equipment, aids to independence and minor/major adaptations.
- Complete manual handling assessments and review the effectiveness of recommendations.
- Manage and review a caseload, keeping accurate and up-to-date case records.
- Work closely with Social Workers, NHS colleagues, GPs and other health and social care professionals.
- Monitor adaptation and equipment recommendations through to completion.
- Attend team meetings, supervision and multidisciplinary discussions.
- Support and supervise junior staff, Occupational Therapy Assistants and students.
- Contribute to improving occupational therapy services across the Vale of Glamorgan.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Professional Occupational Therapy qualification
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience carrying out occupational therapy assessments and interventions with adults
- Experience working with complex needs, physical disabilities, sensory impairment and/or learning disabilities
- Experience assessing equipment, adaptations and manual handling needs
- Ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate electronic case records
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to support/supervise junior staff, assistants and students
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to promoting independence, equality, inclusion and safe care
- Ability to work in line with Council policies, Health & Safety and professional standards
- Enhanced DBS check
