Network IT are currently recruiting for a Senior Java Developer to help design, build and support software products that underpin numerous digital user-focused services.
You will work closely with architecture, engineering and product teams to deliver scalable, secure and maintainable solutions, while guiding the wider team on best practice
You will need strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka and MongoDB, with a strong focus on modern engineering standards, service reliability and scalable cloud-based delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead strategies for building reusable Java libraries, services and software components.
- Shape medium to long term technical strategies for product lines and the wider software engineering community.
- Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to design robust, resilient and scalable systems.
- Champion software engineering best practice, including clean code, testing, documentation, maintainability and modern standards.
- Identify, investigate and support the resolution of infrastructure and production issues.
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the wider engineering community.
- Experience in Java software development, ideally in complex, medium- to high-impact environments.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and modern backend engineering practices.
- Experience with cloud-based environments, preferably AWS.
- Experience with event-driven or distributed systems, ideally using Kafka.
- Experience working with MongoDB.
- Experience designing, coding, testing, correcting and documenting complex programmes, services or scripts using agreed standards and tools.
- Ability to guide others in applying modern software engineering standards, methods and tooling.
- Experience designing systems with medium levels of technical or business complexity, including reviewing designs and selecting appropriate technologies.
- Understanding of service resilience, operational stability, robustness, availability and production support.
- Ability to collaborate with product, architecture, user research and delivery teams to ensure solutions meet genuine user needs.
- A confident technical leader who can coach, mentor and develop other engineers.
- Someone who can balance hands-on engineering with strategic thinking and long-term technical direction.
- A collaborative communicator who can work effectively with senior stakeholders, delivery partners and multidisciplinary teams.
- A user-focused engineer who understands the importance of accessibility, service quality and customer needs.
- A proactive problem solver who can identify risks early, challenge constructively and support continuous improvement.
