Sighted Guide

We are seeking an attentive, reliable, and proactive Sighted Guide to assist a student during their upcoming school-based teaching placement. This role is essential in ensuring the student can navigate the school environment safely and focus fully on their classroom teaching duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide physical and spatial orientation support within the school, classrooms, and grounds.

• Assist with navigation during busy school movements, assemblies, and playground duties.

• Support the student in accessing physical educational materials and setting up learning spaces.

• Maintain clear communication to convey visual cues in dynamic classroom environments.

Requirements

• Primary School Experience: Previous experience working within a primary school setting is essential to understand daily routines, school layouts, and classroom dynamics.

• Full-Time Availability: Must be available full-time for the complete duration of the placement (October through February).

• PVG Scheme Member: Willingness to obtain or update a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme check prior to the start date.

• Strong communication skills, patience, and a professional, supportive approach.
