About the role
Are you an adaptable, resilient, and proactive Teaching Assistant looking for flexible, day-to-day cover work? We are seeking dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to join local schools across the Totnes area starting this September. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain varied experience across different classrooms while supporting children with diverse needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
Role Details- Location: Totnes, Devon
- Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday, Term Time Only)
- Pay: £92.56 - £95.00 per day
- Start Date: September 2026 (New Academic Year)
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Adapt quickly to daily school routines and follow individual learning plans.
- De-escalate challenging behaviours using positive behaviour management techniques.
- Assist class teachers in fostering an inclusive, safe, and encouraging learning environment.
- Help students build confidence, emotional resilience, and independence.
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN (school, care, or community settings).
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a calm demeanour.
- Adaptable mindset suited for day-to-day, short-term assignments.
- An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Right to work in the UK.
