Job description

As a Casework Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, support and continuous improvement of Casework applications built using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform. Working within a multidisciplinary delivery team, you will design, develop and support solutions that meet user needs while ensuring high standards of quality, security and maintainability.

You will contribute to the delivery of business-critical services, help shape development standards and best practices, and provide support and guidance to junior colleagues. This is an exciting opportunity to further develop your technical expertise while contributing to the transformation of DVLA casework services.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Develop and support Casework applications using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform technologies to meet user and business needs.
• Write clean, secure and well-tested code in line with modern development standards and software engineering best practices.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development standards, processes and technical guidance within the team.
• Support the operation of live Casework services, identifying and resolving issues within production environments.
• Participate in the design, development, testing and deployment of new features and enhancements.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across delivery teams to deliver high-quality digital services.
• Coach and mentor junior colleagues, supporting their technical development and knowledge growth.
• Contribute to system design activities and support integration with wider DVLA technologies and services.

Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements

Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week. Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 35 hours per week.

This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.

The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
