VN Recruitment is delighted to be working with a busy and growing small animal practice in Liverpool to recruit an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced RVN to take a senior leadership role, supporting the nursing team and helping drive clinical excellence.

The role

You will lead the nursing team while remaining hands-on clinically, working closely with the Practice Manager and Veterinary Surgeons to ensure high standards of patient care and the smooth running of the practice.

Daily duties

• Lead, mentor and develop the nursing team.
• Manage nursing rotas and staffing levels.
• Support appraisals, training and development.
• Maintain clinical, professional and infection control standards.
• Implement and review clinical protocols and SOPs.
• Monitor workflow and support continual improvement.
• Promote teamwork, professionalism and accountability.
• Continue to provide excellent patient and client care.

Who are we looking for?

• Registered Veterinary Nurse.
• Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
• Previous senior, supervisory or leadership experience.
• Busy small animal practice experience.
• Strong anaesthetic, surgical and inpatient nursing skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Confident leading, coaching and managing a team.
• Able to address performance issues constructively.
• A Clinical Coach qualification and experience with nurse consultations, SOPs, recruitment or appraisals would be advantageous.
