Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people? We're currently recruiting dedicated Residential Support Workers to join a welcoming and supportive children's home near Weston-super-Mare.
The Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stable environment for young people aged 11 to 17 with learning disabilities. You'll provide practical and emotional support, helping them build confidence, develop independence, and enjoy positive day-to-day experiences.
From supporting young people with school routines and activities to assisting with meal preparation and personal care, no two days are the same. Your encouragement and consistency will help create a home where children feel valued, respected, and cared for.
About the Home
This is a warm, family-focused residential setting where relationships are at the heart of everything. You'll support young people with their daily routines, social activities, education, and individual care needs, helping them reach their full potential while promoting their wellbeing and independence.
Shift Patterns
Monday to Sunday
- 07:30am to 8:30pm
- 09:30am to 9:30pm
- Shorter shifts may be available
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting care plans and risk assessments.
- Assisting young people with daily living activities and personal care where required.
- Encouraging participation in education, hobbies, and community activities.
- Supporting medication administration and healthcare needs.
- Maintaining accurate records and completing detailed handovers.
- Working effectively with colleagues, families, and external professionals.
- Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive outcomes at all times.
About You
We're looking for caring, resilient, and committed individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a care, support, residential, or education environment.
- A patient and compassionate approach.
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and procedures.
- A DBS will been needed, if you have one on the update service that will help the application.
