About the role

Location: Dudley

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a supportive Teaching Assistant to start immediately. This Teaching Assistant position will involve working with children and young people aged 3 to 19 who have a wide range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and complex communication needs. The successful Teaching Assistant will help create an inclusive and positive learning experience, supporting pupils to achieve their individual outcomes in a nurturing and highly specialised environment.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with severe, profound, and complex learning needs.
  • Help implement individual education, health, and care plans tailored to each pupil.
  • Adapt resources, learning activities, and communication methods to meet individual needs.
  • Assist with personal care, feeding, mobility, and physical support where required.
  • Support pupils who use alternative communication systems, including PECS, Makaton, and assistive technology.
  • Encourage participation, independence, social interaction, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals, and families to provide consistent support and achieve the best possible outcomes.

This Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with complex needs to develop their confidence, independence, and life skills.

What You’ll Need

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SLD, PMLD, autism, physical disabilities, or complex needs.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A team-focused attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with personal care and medical or physical needs.
  • Motivation to succeed as a Teaching Assistant and make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people.
