The Programme

We are currently mobilising experienced Consultant Paediatricians with relevant Paediatric Cardiology expertise for a planned weekend insourcing programme in North West England.

The programme is designed to provide additional outpatient capacity within an established Paediatric Cardiology pathway. Consultants will work as part of a coordinated clinical team, alongside experienced paediatric nursing staff and the existing cardiorespiratory service.

The outpatient caseload is expected to include general paediatric cardiology referrals such as heart murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, syncope and dizziness, POTS assessments, family history and genetic syndrome screening, and other appropriate general paediatric cardiology presentations.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deliver consultant-led Paediatric Cardiology outpatient clinics within a structured insourced service model
• Assess and manage children referred with general cardiology presentations, including murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, syncope, dizziness, POTS and relevant family history or genetic syndromes
• Review relevant investigations and determine appropriate management, follow-up, discharge or onward referral in accordance with established pathways
• Work alongside paediatric nursing staff and the existing cardiorespiratory team supporting cardiac investigations
• Work to agreed clinical protocols, pathway standards and governance requirements
• Maintain accurate clinical records, outcomes and appropriate handover documentation
• Support safe and consistent patient throughput across programme activity
• Contribute to effective multidisciplinary working and delivery of additional outpatient capacity

What We’re Looking For

• Active GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Specialist Registration in Paediatrics or an appropriate equivalent specialist background
• Current or recent Consultant-level paediatric practice
• Demonstrable experience and expertise in Paediatric Cardiology
• Experience assessing and managing general paediatric cardiology outpatient referrals
• Ability to work confidently within a structured, consultant-led insourcing service
• Strong clinical decision-making, communication and multidisciplinary working skills
• Comfortable working to defined clinical pathways, governance requirements and sessional delivery models
• Valid Right to Work in the UK. Please note that we do not offer visa sponsorship

We are particularly interested in Consultant Paediatricians with Expertise or a Special Interest in Cardiology, as well as appropriately experienced Consultant Paediatric Cardiologists, where their experience aligns with the clinical scope of the programme.
